Cookie policy
The cookies we use on Bentorno, and how you control them.
Last updated November 3, 2026
1What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser, to recognise your browser when it comes back. Some last only until you close the browser; others stay for a set time. First-party cookies are set by the site you visit; third-party cookies are set by other companies. This policy also covers similar technologies, such as storage in your browser.
Bentorno uses only a few first-party cookies, on its website (bentorno.com), in the dashboard and in the app, and Cloudflare, which protects our sites, may set its own security cookies (below). They are either strictly necessary for a service you asked for, such as staying signed in or keeping the sites safe, or remember a choice you made. The law allows these without asking for your consent first, so we don't show a cookie banner. How we handle the personal data involved is explained in our privacy policy.
2Strictly necessary
| Cookie | Where | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
bentorno_session | Dashboard | Keeps a business owner or team member signed in | 30 days, renewed while you use the dashboard, and removed when you sign out |
bentorno_customer_session | App | Keeps a customer signed in | 180 days, renewed while you use the app, and removed when you sign out |
Both can only be read by our servers, not by scripts in the page, are sent only over encrypted connections, and are not sent along when another site links to ours in the background.
Cloudflare, which protects our sites from attacks and abuse, may set its own strictly necessary third-party security cookies, such as __cf_bm (telling people from automated traffic) or cf_clearance (remembering that a browser passed a security check). They hold no profile of you and aren't used for advertising; Cloudflare's own cookie policy describes them.
3Preferences
| Cookie | Where | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
NEXT_LOCALE | Website, dashboard and app | Remembers your language, so pages open in it | 1 year |
side | Website | Remembers whether you last picked the page for businesses or the one for customers, so the website opens on it | 1 year |
NEXT_LOCALE is set when you pick a language in the language menu, or open a page in a language other than your browser's; side when you pick Business or Customer at the top of the website.
4What we don’t use
Our own pages don't use analytics, advertising, social media or tracking cookies, tracking pixels (also not in our emails), session recording, CAPTCHAs of our own (Cloudflare may ask a browser to pass a security check when its traffic looks automated) or other storage in your browser. Our fonts are served from our own servers, and no third-party scripts run on our pages.
Polar's payment window and card form are not our pages. When a business owner pays for a subscription, the dashboard shows Polar's own checkout page on top of it, and when the owner changes the card on the billing page, a dialog shows Polar's own card form in a frame. Both come with Polar's own storage and Stripe's: Polar may set a cookie that recognises the browser and measure how its pages are used, and Stripe, which processes the card in them, sets its fraud-prevention cookies there, such as __stripe_mid (1 year) and __stripe_sid (30 minutes), collects signals to prevent fraud and may ask for a security check; a bank that asks you to confirm a payment (3-D Secure) may use its own. None of it is set before the window or the dialog opens, and Polar's privacy policy and Stripe's privacy policy apply to it.
5Managing cookies
You can see and delete cookies, and block them, in your browser's settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, you can't stay signed in to the dashboard or the app. If you block the language cookie, pages open in your browser's language, and if you block side, the website opens on the page for businesses.
6Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
